100% recycled down, polyester and wool

Patagonia has been diverting resources from the landfill since 1993 when we made the first fleece from recycled plastic bottles. Since then, we’ve learned how to use more and more recycled materials in our clothing without sacrificing performance or quality. This season it all comes together in the re\\\collection—styles made with all sorts of recycled materials, including 100% recycled down, 100% recycled wool and 100% recycled polyester with 85% recycled polyester labels, 80% recycled zippers and 50% recycled buttons. This is radically resourceful clothing, built to keep you warm and ready to be recycled again when the time comes.

100% Recycled Down

The cornerstone of the collection, Patagonia Recycled Down is a mix of 600-fill-power goose and duck down reclaimed from used items that can’t be resold, and offers identical performance benefits to virgin down. By plucking some of our down (and associated fabrics) from the trash, we reduce discards and help to grow and add value to the recycling stream.

100% Recycled Polyester

Patagonia Recycled Polyester is made from used plastic bottles, unusable manufacturing waste and worn-out garments (including our own). We use 100% recycled polyester extensively in the re\\\collection to make cozy high-loft fleece, smooth liners, face fabrics and drawcords. Even the Patagonia label has 85% recycled polyester content, while zippers have 80% and buttons 50%.

100% Recycled Wool

Patagonia Recycled Wool is made from discarded wool sweaters that are shred into usable fiber (60%) and mixed with recycled polyester (30%) and recycled nylon (10%) for durability. By recycling previously dyed fabrics, we not only keep them from the landfill, we save water, chemicals and wastewater.

85% Recycled Heritage Label

With a nod back to the early days, the heritage Patagonia label brings an extra something special to this collection—and it’s made from 85% recycled polyester.and add value to the recycling stream.

80% Recycled Zippers

The zipper teeth and tape are made from 80% recycled polyester. The zipper pull, however, is not recycled.

50% Recycled Buttons

The buttons we use on the vests, shirt jackets and hooded coat are made from 50% recycled polyester.

50% Recycled Waist Drawcord

We kept the closure system simple on the pants and skirt. A drawcord secures the waist and is made from 100% recycled polyester. The same type of recycled drawcord cinches the waist on the men’s shirt jacket, V-neck pullover and vest.
